GEORGIA REDFISH RULES COULD CHANGE

Georgia redfish regulations could be changing, and a lot of coastal anglers are paying attention. 🎣

Georgia DNR is proposing new red drum regulations aimed at reducing harvest and rebuilding the South Atlantic redfish stock.

Here’s what’s being proposed:

• Daily limit reduced from 5 fish to 3 fish

• Slot size changed from 14–23 inches to 15–24 inches

According to the latest stock assessment, the southern red drum population, including Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida waters, is currently considered overfished.

Georgia DNR says these changes could reduce redfish harvest by roughly 22.5% while helping protect the long-term future of the fishery.

Public comments are open through June 30, 2026.

Whether you fish from a boat, kayak, beach, dock, or marsh, this is something that affects all Georgia saltwater anglers.

What do y’all think about the proposed changes?
