What we always thought were just redeye bass in the GA/SC line turned out to be their own deal. DNA tests locked it in Bartram’s Bass.
They don’t get big, most under 14 inches, but they fight like hell in those rocky, fast rivers. Gold flanks, dark bars, red eyes with that gold ring you’ll know one when you see it.
You’ll find ’em in the Savannah River system Tugaloo, Chattooga, Hartwell, Russell and up into NC in the Horsepasture and Toxaway.
